Fallen

Luce’s parents visit for Parents’ Day, and she asks why they didn’t take her home after the fire. Her parents just want to do what they think is best for her, and from what they have heard, Luce is doing great aside from the fire. Luce’s parents bring her favorite foods for a picnic and a letter from Callie, making her feel sentimental. Luce introduces Penn to her parents and invites Penn to join them for lunch, as Penn has no parents of her own to visit with.

Luce looks around at the other students with their parents and doesn’t see Daniel or Cam. Luce and her parents then go on a tour of the campus’s historical sites. They run into Cam, who is with a man who appears to be his father. Cam is charming with Luce’s parents before excusing himself and his father quickly. Luce considers talking to her parents about leaving Sword & Cross, just like Daniel suggested, but she doesn’t actually want to leave with so much mystery drawing her to Daniel. Luce is sad when her parents leave.

Penn invites Luce to visit her father’s grave with her.
